Encyclomedia 2009 — Here I come!

I'm off at the crack of dawn (actually before) tomorrow morning. I plan to pick up fabulous Austin author Jessica Lee Anderson (author of TRUDY and the upcoming BORDER CROSSING) and head up I35 to Oklahoma City!

It's going to be a fun, fast two days including our author panel, a book signing, a TV interview, and being able to hang out with authors and librarians. How cool is that!

I'm on the Friday panel with the fab authors on the postcard below:

And there's another panel on Thursday with the authors in this postcard:

I'll post pics and details next week!

In other news, for your chance to win an ARC of THE NAVEL OF THE WORLD (the second book in my trilogy) and a copy of THE AMETHYST ROAD by Louise Spiegler, head over to The Spectacle and mention your favorite thing about fall.

Special happy 5th birthday to my daughter today! We're off to buy tons of art supplies for her after school. And of course eat a cupcake or two.

Have a great weekend!

Thanks, Kimberly. That's the best part about stuff like this - it is fun!

Thanks, Tess. It does make me feel like an author :)

I'll soak the goodness up and bring it back to share, Tricia.

I'm going to read I SO DON'T DO MYSTERIES next, Beth. I've been meaning to for a while also.

Oh, what fun! I met Suzanne Morgan Williams in Boise earlier this year. She's super nice. (And I follow Barrie's blog, she seems super nice too.)

Enjoy!

Okay, so I've been thinking about your book and wanting to read it. I do love MG, after all and after 'meeting' you on your blog it just piques my interest in your writing.

So I went on Amazon and was surprised to see most copies of your book are going for anywhere from $30 to $50. Do you know why? I did find a copy for $11, which was great and I ordered it...but there was only one available at that price.

Just curious as to why a book would be selling for $50. Is it an author signed copy? Are there limited editions? See all the silly questions I have... hope you don't mind me asking. I'm trying to learn about all parts of the publication and sales process.

I am glad to be getting it though - can't wait!

I hope that comment didn't sound judgemental. It's not meant to be at all. Simply curiosity in the process of it all...

Thanks, Tabitha!

I can't wait for him to get a copy, Adrienne! I love having a fan!

Thanks, Casey!

Barrie is super nice, Miriam! And I'm looking forward to meeting Suzanne.

Thanks, Robyn!

LOL, Tess! I, of course, am highly flattered my book would sell for so high a price. That said, I "think" the reason for this is because the publisher is in mid-process of changing distributors and so on certain systems it says the book is out of print. If a book is out of print, it sells for more I'm guessing. So, once the book distribution gets settled, I would expect to see the prices drop. I have seen a few around which I take as an encouraging sign. And Amazon has it at a normal price as does B&N I think.
Thanks for asking and looking!
