Five on a Friday

Happy Friday! Here's my five for the week.

1) Super thank you to all those who chimed in on the son/parent book club. It seems some exist, but nowhere near the number as daughters. Thank you to those who vow to start them! And thank you to those who mentioned the blog post.
Let's get this thing viral!

2) I love this picture of my critique partner's son reading an ARC of THE NAVEL OF THE WORLD.

3) Read recently:

INCARCERON by Catherine Fisher - This was an ARC my editor lent me. The more I think about it, the more I like it. It almost reminded me of an adult fantasy (as far as the feel of it goes). I'm already looking forward to the sequel, and the best part is that since it's a book that was published in the UK, the sequel is something I can get my hands on :)

A CROOKED KIND OF PERFECT by Linda Urban - A cute, fun, realistic comedy for later elementary and middle school kids.

THE TALES OF BEEDLE THE BARD by J. K. Rowling - Die-hard Harry Potter fans will enjoy this.
*Note that the best thing about this title is my son checked it out from the library for me.

4) Sneak peak of t-shirt design for THE NAVEL OF THE WORLD.

5) I'm looking forward to a writing weekend! Tomorrow is the Vermont College of Fine Arts Writing Workshop in the Lone Star State! I plan to come out of it totally awed and inspired after learning from Kathi Appelt and Sharon Darrow all day!

I hope everyone has a great weekend!

As you can see, from the picture, my son could get into a reading group for boys!

Have fun with your writing weekend. Mine is going to be more of a running around weekend - but maybe I'll be able to accomplish something.

Too bad you can't go, but yes, in November we can talk all about it. And I'm glad the boy book club is making you think.

good luck getting your writing weekend. I finally go The Emerald Tablet and really enjoyed it. What a great read for boys. I'm hoping I can get my reluctant reader son to pick it up. I think he'll really like it.

Nice picture! :)

I read the Tales of Beedle the Bard the other week. Someone left a library copy at our store, so we passed it around on lunch breaks for a few days and then returned it.

Thank you, Lois! I appreciate it! And I hope your son reads it.

Thanks, Angela!

Cleaning is so necessary, isn't it, Robyn. Kind of like revisions, right? Have a great weekend, too!

Thanks, Trisha! I try to make it a fun experience for all involved. If a t-shirt helps, then I'm all for it!

Thanks, Miriam! Beedle was a quick read, wasn't it.

I love the t-shirt!!!!! I've thought of doing that for my series as well. (It'd be nice to have it published first ;) Great advertising.

My son is finally showing signs of becoming a real reader. He's still in the Magic Tree House stage, but last week he read one of them in just two days. A record for him!

PJ Hoover said...

The t-shirts are fun, T. Anne. Just and extra something nice.

That's exactly how my son started, Rebecca. And he took off after those. I think very highly of those books :)

PJ - I wanted to let you know about my blog address change. *sigh* If you're following me, my posts now won't show up in your feed, dashboard, sidebar, whatever. So please forgive me, but you'll have to change the address for my main writing blog, Where Romance Meets Therapy, to http://jeanniecampbell.blogspot.com. To do this, you have to "unfollow" me and follow me again. Sorry for the confusion!
