Five on a Friday

Hey! I hope everyone is ready for a great weekend!

This weekend I'm looking forward to:

1) Recovering from knee surgery. Yes, I have surgery on Friday the 13th. (torn meniscus...send me happy thoughts please!)

2) Finishing up THE MAZE RUNNER by James Dashner.
Reading BLUE PLATE SPECIAL by Michelle D. Kwasney.

BTW, over on THE SPECTACLE, we're going to do a book discussion on THE MAZE RUNNER next month in case you want to read it and join in.

3) Presenting at the Hill Country Book Festival on Saturday at 1:00 and signing afterward. If you live in the central Texas area, please come by!

With said knee surgery, I won't be driving, but luckily I've secured transportation with the Jenny Ziegler chauffeur service. If you haven't read Jenny's HOW NOT TO BE POPULAR, you must! And Jenny will be presenting right after me in case I'm not encouragement enough.

4) Hoping to fit in a little Mario Kart.

5) Finishing up season 3 of Star Trek: The Next Generation with the family. Picard is about to be turned into a Borg. And then the show really picks up.

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Yay for Star Trek! I'm about to put a Borg episode on. Maybe I'll put that one on. I couldn't resist writing about the Borg on the Lit Lab today. Yes, I'm a nerd. :)

Wishing you a speedy recovery! Is this from a recent injury?

Yikes! First dental surgery, now knee. You are having quite the year. I wish you a successful surgery and quick recovery. Give yourself plenty of book and movie-watching time. It's an after-surgery perk you deserve.

Thanks, Denise, for the well wishes!

Fellow nerds unite, Michelle. I'll have to check my blog reader for your post!

No injury I can remember, Jim. It just happened. Thanks!

Thank, Tricia! Yes, lots of reading and...Star Trek :)

Thanks, everyone!

Hope your surgery goes well. I look at the 13th as a lucky day as my daughter was born on April 13th, so hopefully the day will be luck for you. Hope your recovery is quick.

PJ Hoover said...

We are all eventually assimilated, right Sherrie? Thanks!

I love the flowers and the chocolate, Christina! They are perfect :)

I'm viewing it as lucky, too, Natalie! Your daughter must have some lucky birthdays!

Thanks!

Sorry to hear about the knee surgery! But very happy to hear you're watching TNG with your family - I grew up watching it with my family; it was one of those rare shows we all enjoyed.

Knee surgery on Friday and a presentation on Saturday? You are amazing.
Hope all goes well - sending happy thoughts. :)

I love TNG, Anna, and am so happy my family wants to watch it too! Thanks!

LOL, Adrienne! The surgery center left me little choices on scheduling!

Thanks!

I'm watching Next Generation with my bf, since he's never seen them. We're on season 1, so we've got a while til Locutus shows up!
Have a great weekend :)

Good luck with your surgery. So what are you thinking about The Maze Runner?

Warm wishes for your recovery. So will you be posting a review of Maze Runner? Interested to hear what you think.

PJ Hoover said...

Locutus seems to have snuck up on us, Lynn! I can't believe he's two espisodes away!

Finished the Maze Runner offline, Lois. Um, interesting. Definitely not my fav read of the read, but I did keep turning the pages. I'll be more specific in the book chat. That said, it is no Hunger Games.

I probably won't do an official review, Terry! But over on The Spectable we will chat about it (in December). So read it before then if you can and join in!

Thanks everyone! Surgery is done, and I'm home and lucid!

Good luck with your book signing tomorrow!

"I am Locutus of Borg."

One of my top five TV moments. Still gives me the shivers...

I hope your knee feels better! *sends happy thoughts*

Thank you, Vivian! I'm feeling good!

This episode really dawned the good season finales, didn't it, Miriam! Yay!

Take care of that knee--my hub had the same surgery a few years ago for the same thing. There's some kind of supplement that he took to help recovery too--I'll ask him what it was and post again.

PJ Hoover said...

Thanks, Angela! So far, so good. Now to sleep for the night!
Thank you!
